Hello! If you're reading this, then you must want to know who made a wiki about a band that has, for the most part, fallen out of the public eye at large. While the sad truth of that statement will never cease to upset me, I am more than happy to be here and contribute to something (hopefully) worthwhile.
Anyway, I'm CircleHunter (without the space preferably), and welcome to the Blue Öyster Cult Wiki. I decided to take on this project for a few reasons, chief among them the fact that I have been pretty much obsessed with their work since I was around 12, so let's call it Summer of 2009.
As a loser kid with better Guitar Hero chops than real guitar chops, I discovered my tastes a little later than some. During my time wielding the plastic axe, particularly in the first Guitar Hero, I took a liking to a little song called "Godzilla." In Guitar Hero III, there was a semi-hidden track by the name of "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll." In Rock Band, "(Don't Fear) The Reaper." I hope the pattern has been made clear.
From there, I just had to know more about this band with a really weird name. One night, I bought the Don't Fear The Reaper: The Best of Blue Öyster Cult compilation on CD. I was not the most financially gifted kid, so let's say that disc spent many months in the player I carried with me. Once I came into enough money and the will to find more, I bought the Blue Öyster Cult/Fire of Unknown Origin/Extraterrestrial Live 3-pack.
It was from this point forward that I was officially one with the Cult. At the relatively young age of 13, I began to study the lyrics and try to decipher what I heard, and what others would most definitely hear as nonsense. I needed more, and was ready for everything.
It wasn't until I was 15, at the tail end of my first year in high school, that I gained unrestricted (stolen from the neighbor) internet access. With this came exactly what I wanted.
So, here I am, in the present day with some wiki experience and the need for more Blue Öyster Cult. I am far from the most knowledgeable, I haven't seen them live, and I have yet to own all of their albums in any format. These things can change, though, and I sincerely hope that if anyone is reading this, and they love this band as much as I do, they will contribute to this place in some way.
